The 2023 Political Coalitions Survey examines the deep divides shaping the current political landscape. The national survey of 6,014 adults reveals that Americans are torn between optimism about the country's future and pessimism toward the possibility of achieving the American dream. Despite intense partisanship, voters prefer candidates who appeal to moderates over those who reflect ideological extremes. Each candidate for the 2024 Presidential election faces challenges in building a winning coalition.
